Depression

The feelings associated with depression vary between individuals but are profound and last for many weeks/ months at a time (unlike common feelings of being "a bit down"," a little sad"). Depression can be caused from all number of reasons. A build-up of stress over a prolonged period, hormonal changes, family changes, financial concerns, bereavement, unemployment and many more. What is clear is that the effects often cause sudden and great distress, can affect not only the motivation and ability to function as before, but also can have a severe effect on the way we experience events, especially our general thought processes and perceptions.

DepressionA good description of depression is hard to find, as the effects and feelings vary with each individual, however, a good metaphor is that of  sudden dark clouds gathering, hanging heavy and crowding out daylight (not allowing happy thoughts and feelings). These feelings are often accompanied by a profound sense of sadness, lethargy, futility, worry and sometimes gilt, along with heightened pain sensitivity, with even the most colourful, pleasurable and enjoyable pastimes now seemingly colourless and uninteresting.

Here at Inner Peace we truly understand the feelings associated with depression and understand the cycle of depression. The often inability to sleep well at night as the brain keeps going over and over the worries and troubles of the day, then awakening in the morning with a sensation of deep fatigue as the body has not adequately rested. The tiredness and lethargy of the unmotivated, but stressful working day, sometimes with the appearance of an erratic eating frequency, often the desire not to socialise or pursue previous past times and then back to bed again to spend hours awake although deeply tired.

We can successfully help you understand the cycle of depression, the chemical effects caused by over worry and give you tools and support to successfully break the cycle of depression. Once broken the cycle of depression can be surprisingly quickly changed establishing a better self image and re-establishing older wholesome life patterns. Please see the Testimonial page
